Paul Lazenby: I'd Jump At The Chance To Be Alongside Batista's Marcus Fenix In A Gears of War Film

If the former WWE Heavyweight gets his wish for a Gears of War film, he's got backup.

This week former MMA fighter, actor, stuntman, and author Paul Lazenby joined The Wrestling Perspective Podcast with Dennis Farrell and Ace Steel. Lazenby spoke about his career, including Professional Wrestling, Pancrase, and various acting roles. Lazenby has credits for motion capture work in the video game series Gears of War.

Grudge Match Added To Monday's WWE Raw

Lazenby was the motion capture actor for Marcus Fenix. Lazenby was asked about possibly being in a Gears of War movie and the potential of Dave Bautista's involvement.

"I would love to do it. I've never managed to cross-ties with Batista. I've doubled for three WWE Champions, and Batista was almost the fourth. I got an offer to double [stunt] him in Toronto, but I was working on something in Vancouver, and they were nervous about me flying over and back again. *I actually did think he'd make a great Marcus Fenix." Lazenby said.

** Mr. Lazenby's quote was written in error in the original article. This article has been updated to reflect Mr. Lazenby's actual quote on Batista [Dave Bautista] possibly playing the role of Marcus Fenix was "I actually did think he'd make a great Marcus Fenix." The first mention of Mr. Lazenby commenting on Batista playing Marcus Fenix appeared in a June 11th article on our sister website FightfulSelect.com. Mr. Lazenby's quote was written correctly in that article.

"You know what I was when I first started doing Gears of War. I was getting pulled aside by certain members of the studio until they were told not to and asked would you be interested in doing something if we do a movie, a show, or a convention or something like that. Because the role was just such a good fit, I mean, I can't lay claim to being a great actor in that one particular sense because just Marcus Fenix felt so natural, and everybody there felt the same way. So I was thinking it'd be cool to play him in a movie. But when Batista's name came up, it obviously made sense. He's got bankability, and he's got box office draw. But playing a character alongside his Marcus Fenix, I would jump at the chance." Lazenby said.

Dave Bautista has been advocating for a film with him playing the lead role of Marcus Fenix. In an interview with Variety, Bautista mentioned that Netflix has not reached out to him regarding a potential part.

Dave Bautista is set to star and Executive Produce the Lionsgate Action Comedy 'The Killer's Game.' That article can be viewed by clicking here.
