Ricky Starks Talks Love Of Wrestling Games, Possibly Being In An AEW Video Game Someday

Ricky Starks has a lot of love for wrestling games, especially the classic ones.

The AEW star recently spoke to Fightful and spoke a lot about his history of wrestling video games, saying he would get excited during Christmas just to even get a new game and play until the crack of dawn and beyond.

“Absolutely, but not like a hardcore thing. I had the No Mercy, all of the SmackDown games for the PlayStation and I played the Royal Rumble for Dreamcast. I loved wrestling games when I was younger. Every Christmas, that’s what I would look forward to, just staying up and playing all night. SmackDown: Just Bring It, no lie, I used to play from 12 AM to 8 AM, just playing that because we used to do presents at midnight. Brings back so many memories,” Starks said.

That love for wrestling video games extends to today as he spends a lot of time in Jacksonville, where AEW is doing shows these days. Starks admitted he brought his video game console and see who else on the AEW roster has game.

“I actually brought my PlayStation 2 here, not to do tournaments but at least play some of the guys and see where they're at,” Starks said.

With AEW being the major company that it is, with major television deals and even its own action figure line, an AEW video game might not be too far behind. Such a game has been discussed in the past, though no date has yet to be revealed. Starks was asked about his thoughts on him being an official part of a video game and he is excited over those prospects.

“That to me is the same feeling as to when I have an action figure. I think I have to see that before I can let any feeling kick in. I’ve seen people make Create-A-Wrestlers online for me and those are really cool in and of itself. To have an official game, an actual video game model, dude, just thinking about it. I don’t know. I have to see it first but I think it would be really cool regardless,” Starks said.
