Thunder Rosa provided an MMA update.
The AEW star recently sat down with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp and discussed a number of different topics, including her willingness to have a boxing match. The wrestler/mixed martial artist said that she'd be open to facing a TikTik personality on a Jake Paul card and would train like crazy for it.
"Okay, let’s put it this way. If there’s a TikToker that you guys know, that you would like to see me fight in a boxing match—on a Jake Paul card—I’m all about it. I love boxing and I will train my ass off to beat whoever wants to step in the ring with me. Straight up. That’s the update," she revealed.
Jake Paul is an undefeated boxer, having defeated professional fighters, basketball players, and YouTubers alike. He is currently 4-0.
Thunder Rosa continued on to comment on women's wrestling and how it has exploded in popularity and the receptions she garnering despite never being in WWE. Here are her full remarks:
"It is and it’s important for people to recognize, especially from the mainstream outlets, that people in the independent scene have worked really hard to create a name and create a brand and people are actually watching it and people paying attention. Not necessarily you have to be in a humongous company like WWE to be successful. I’m a great example of that, working in all the different companies you just mentioned, you really make the difference. To hear the people chant Thunder Rosa in the way that they have in the last couple of weeks, it’s humbling. It’s amazing because it tells you that they believe in what I bring to the table and what I’m really all about, which is my passion for wrestling and my passion for mixed martial arts. It’s all there."
Rosa featured prominently at AEW's All Out, making it to the final two of the Casino Battle Royale before being eliminated by the debuting Ruby Soho. In the time since then, she has picked up consecutive victories on both AEW Dark and AEW Dark: Elevation, boosting her spot in the rankings and bringing her ever closer to another shot at Dr. Britt Baker and the AEW Women's World Championship.
Fightful provides live coverage of AEW Dynamite and Rampage every Wednesday and Friday night as well as results from Dark and Elevation on Mondays and Tuesdays.
