Goldenboy Santos Notes

Fightful’s Corey Brennan recently sat down with Goldenboy Santos for a recent interview where he talked about winning the OTT GN Championship, his run so far in RevPro and more.

At the beginning of the interview, Santos noted that things have been going very fast recently for him, and in speaking about his Gender Neutral title win at OTT ScrapperMania, he noted how emotional he was to win the championship at the event. He also noted that he feels very lucky to have been adopted by the Irish wrestling scene. He also says he does not feel pressure as the new champion, but a responsibility to the title to make it as prestigious as it can possibly be. He also noted that he felt a responsibility to fans to bust out something new at OTT’s biggest event.

On being welcomed by the Irish fans and talent, Santos shared a story of how he stayed with OTT name CJ West when he first appeared for the promotion and is thankful for the support of the fans and talent. He also felt like he was watching a movie being in the ring with B Cool for his championship celebration at the event, and jumped out of his chair when Finn Balor and JD McDonagh were announced for OTT’s Tenth Anniversary show. Santos also suggested that he and DeReiss have Darragh's Ma on a pole match.

On RevPro, Santos noted that he feels like his run with David Francisco has been a good one due to the similarities between the two. He also recalled his physical match with Ricky Knight Jr, noting it was just as violent as anticipated. He also noted that if you told him in 2018 that he would wrestle in the National Stadium and York Hall on back to back nights, he would not have believed you. On his goals for the remainder of the year, it is to continue to push forward in both OTT and RevPro.

Gideon Grey Notes

Fightful’s Corey Brennan recently sat down with Gideon Grey for an interview about announcing, RevPro and wrestling in memory of James Castle.

On commentating, Gideon noted early on that he made it a point to only take commentary gigs to wind up RevPro owner Andy Quildan, noting that he doesn’t understand how Andy can’t see how duplicitous Michael Oku is. On his support for the nastier wrestlers he commentates, Gideon defended his stance with a question of his own, asking would people rather a respectful competition or two lads beating the snot out of each other.

When asked if there’s been times he’s been drawn out of his support for heel acts, Gideon pointed to Gabe Kidd and Tetsuya Naito as two talents he can’t support, wishing the most annoying of inconveniences on both men.

When asked about what he sees for his future in both his in ring career and his announcing career, Grey noted that he would be taking it as it comes for both, noting that he could never truly be content with his career. When discussing the growth of RevPro, Gideon pointed to Andy Quildan not faltering on his vision for what he wanted the promotion to be, with Gideon stating he feels RevPro’s in ring product is up there with the best in the world.

On New Japan Pro Wrestling and RevPro, Gideon noted a key difference between the promotions is organization, as RevPro is largely a one man show. Grey also recalled seeing Michael Oku try and fail time and again before he became the star he is today and the growth of JJ Gale over the past year.

On his match at Summer Sizzler in memory of James Castle, Gideon said he was concerned that the crowd would be aware of the significance of his match with Dan McGee, but was happy to be wrong and that York Hall moved him with their reactions to the match in memory of his late friend.
