Vic Joseph Discusses Talent Being Injured Mid-Match While He's On The Call, Calls It A 'Mental Test'

Vic Joseph discusses moments that surprise him when he's at the commentary desk.

WWE is live theater like no other. However, sometimes that means that talent suffers injuries in the middle of a match and everyone from the other competitors to the broadcasters has to adjust on the fly.

Speaking to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful ahead of WWE WrestleMania XL, Joseph said that talent injuries are the most surprising moments to him when he's at the desk, citing R-Truth's most recent injury which nearly led to him having his leg amputated.

"It’s gonna sound sad, but it’s whenever somebody gets hurt. We’re in the moment and then you have to take your foot off the gas. When you take your foot off the gas, that’s when it gets real. I remember when R-Truth—we’ve all heard, he just did interviews that he almost had to have his leg amputated. So it’s those moments that you go kinda look back and go, ‘Ooh.’ That tests, mentally, having to take your foot off the gas," he said.
