Vince McMahon Never Had A Plan For The Lockbox In Shane McMahon WWE Storyline

One of WWE’s most asked about loose ends has an even more disappointing answer.

In 2016, Shane McMahon made his return to WWE after a yearslong absence. When Shane was set for a WrestleMania match against The Undertaker, a stipulation was added.

If Shane won, he would get control of Monday Night Raw. If Shane lost, Vince McMahon would get the contents to a “lockbox” Shane had possession of, which presumably held Vince McMahon’s dark secret.

Fightful recently asked our audience about unfinished stories that they wanted the answers to, with this being among the most requested. Unfortunately, the answer is exemplary to the Vince McMahon era of creatively bankrupt booking.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reached out to several members of creative from the time. Each one that we heard back from claimed there was never a “lockbox” item determined, and that it was never actually intended to be a line to begin with. It was something that Vince McMahon added at the last minute.

The answer, like many things in the last number of years of Vince McMahon's booking, is that there was no rhyme, reason or plan.
