Xia Brookside talks her father's influence on the world of wrestling.
Robbie Brookside, who is the father of Xia Brookside, is arguably one of the most popular independent wrestlers of all time. Brookside spent the majority of his in-ring career in Europe, where he competed in promotions like All Star Wrestling, Premier Promotions, and the European Wrestling Promotion.
A few years after retiring from in-ring action in 2013, Robbie Brookside became a coach/teacher at the WWE Performance Center, where he still works to this day.
While speaking to Fightful for a new interview, Xia Brookside said that she's had many wrestlers tell her how much of an influence her father is in NXT.
"So I love it ‘cause I’m really, really close with my dad and then I’ll meet all these new wrestlers. They’ll just tell me how much influence he’s had on their career, but also I’ll meet people that have maybe been in NXT for a portion of time. I’m starting to meet them now being on the American side of it, I’m meeting a lot more people that have been in NXT, whether they’ve been on TV or just been there for a few months, wrestlers or athletes that have been there. I’ll meet them and they’re like, ‘Your dad helped me so much in NXT. He was like a mentor.’ ‘Cause that’s who he is as a person. So hearing these stories about how he’s helped all these people, my heart is like, ‘That’s my dad. He’s such a good person.’"
