Finn Balor is not afraid of Suplex City.
At WWE Summerslam in 2016, Finn Balor won the WWE Universal Championship to become the inaugural champion. He had to relinquish his title almost immediately due to a shoulder injury suffered in the match. In an interview with Inside The Ropes, Balor was asked about facing the current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. Balor had strong words about reclaiming his championship.
"It's not something I want to do. It's not something I'm looking forward to. I feel like I have to do it. I have to beat Brock Lesnar. I have to challenge Brock Lesnar. He has the title I never lost. If I am any sort of a man, I believe it's more important to be a man than a champion. I need to be a man and stand up to this guy," said Balor.
In fact, Balor said he can not wait to get into the ring with Lesnar.
"I ain't afraid of him. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to enjoy getting taken to Suplex City. But, I will enjoy the fact I'm stood across the ring from Brock Lesnar. I'm going to say 'I ain't afraid of you man,'" said Balor.
The former Universal Champion also invoked the names of David and Goliath when comparing himself to Lesnar. He also said the match-up would be the most interesting match WWE has not put together yet.
At WWE Summerslam this year, Finn Balor defeated Bray Wyatt and Brock Lesnar successfully defended his championship. Fightful Wrestling provided live coverage and a recapping podcast.
