Florida State Attorney Believes Political Ties Led To WWE Being "Essential," Govorner Denies Claim

On April 9, Linda McMahon's Super PAC to re-elect Donald Trump committed $18.5 million to Florida. On the same day, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis deemed WWE as "essential business," allowing them to run live events with no audience.

And State Attorney for Palm Beach County, Florida Dave Aronberg believes there is a connection between the two.

"Putting on shows in a closed building where everyone is tested, does not harm public safety. I don't think there's a threat to public safety in what they're doing. But there's another way to look at it that says, 'how come they got an exception?' That shows the problem with the process. It's haphazard. I'm sure it had nothing to do with fact that the McMahon family is very tight with the Trumps and the fact that Linda McMahon is raising $300 million for Trump's Super PAC and the [Florida] governor is tight with the President. I'm sure it had nothing to do with that, right?" Aronberg sarcastically questioned on ESPN West Palm.

"But it does expose the problem with the process and a lot of people are wondering 'why them?' even if they don't pose a public safety risk."

When asked "why them?" Aronberg replied, "[The political ties] has got to be the answer."

Aronberg continued, saying WWE doesn't have a lobbyist in Florida, believing that they are so well connected that they don't need one. He also questioned the political process in Florida, pointing out that Governor DeSantis listens to Trump.

In his press conference on Wednesday, DeSantis was questioned about his ties to the McMahon family and the Super PAC.

"Have they supported me? They didn't. People can look up anyone who has supported me. If there's no support, it'd be really hard to draw that connection, not that it would be legitimate anyway. In this case, the factual predicate isn't even there," he said before moving on to the next question.

During Tuesday's press conference, DeSantis explained why WWE was deemed "essential." You can find his full comments by clicking here.
