Fuego Del Sol Pitched Being The Apprentice Of Death Triangle In AEW, Says PAC Liked The Idea

Fuego Del Sol tried to make something out of a small storyline he was given with The House of Black as a buffer while waiting for Rey Fenix to return.

Fuego Del Sol is currently no longer an AEW wrestler but is actively trying to earn his way back to a major contract in wrestling. In the meantime, he's sharing stories about his career on his YouTube channel, providing fans with insights such as storyline pitches he had for his character in AEW that did not come to light.

One such pitch was for him to be an apprentice of Death Triangle, the trio of wrestlers including PAC, Rey Fenix, and Penta El Zero Miedo.

"The first storyline pitch that I want to talk to you guys about is Fuego Del Sol joining the Death Triangle. In early 2022, I had a random match on AEW Rampage with The House of Black. It was just supposed to be a one-time thing where me and Bear Country [Iron Savages] wrestled The House of Black because they needed some guys to beat that night. However, Malakai [Black] and Buddy [Matthews] saw the reaction that I was getting from the crowd and decided to prolong this because they were in a rivalry with Death Triangle at the time, Fenix had gotten hurt, and they needed to kill some time until Fenix's return," Fuego recalled in a YouTube video. "So in the meantime, they thought they would feud with me to eventually set up the big return of Fenix and the Death Triangle. Because this randomly fell in my lap and I was going to get to wrestle The House of Black a few more times, I realized this could be an opportunity for me to do something bigger.

"I thought I would make a great apprentice to the Lucha Brothers and that I could have a really fun dynamic going back and forth with PAC," he continued. "Like PAC didn't like me, but I was trying to earn his respect [but] The Lucha Brothers liked me and saw that I had potential. I wanted to slowly but surely have this fun back and forth with PAC, where he treats me like crap, he could beat me up, throw me around, do all the dastardly bastard things that PAC does, but I slowly but surely earned his respect as the apprentice to the Death Triangle. I don't think it would have made it a 'Death Square' by any means, but just an apprentice to the Death Triangle."

Although it never came to fruition, Fuego even says he talked to PAC about the idea and that the Englishman was into the idea. However, Fuego doesn't know if the idea made it from those he pitched it to up to Tony Khan.

"I talked to PAC about it backstage. He liked the idea. He told me to pitch it. I talked to a couple of people in management about it, but I don't know if it even ever got back to Tony Khan. However, the night that Fenix did return, The House of Black did a cool angle where they laid me out on stage that then led to Fenix's big comeback and their subsequent feud. Even though we didn't get to do it, I did really like the idea and thought it would be a really fun thing to try to earn PAC's respect each week while being an understudy to two of the best Lucha guys in the world," said Fuego.

Elsewhere on his YouTube channel, Fuego provided details on his AEW contract, revealing that he had signed a four-year agreement. However, the final three years were optional and AEW elected not to utilize the last two. Learn more here.
