The promoter for Game Changer Wrestling speaks out.
This past Friday at Joey Janela's LA Confidential, things got crazy in the main event between David Arquette and Nick Gage. A main event between David Arquette and Nick Gage is crazy as it is, but it took a turn for the worse in the closing moments. Gage hammed another light tube across the head of Arquette and then jabbed the broken end into Arquette bloody forehead. During the spot, Arquette's neck was sliced open, leading to an awkward ending between the two.
Please don't watch this video if you are bothered by blood, hardcore wrestling, profanity, Nick Gage, or David Arquette. With that said, I'm posting it due to questions being asked by the wrestling community. #JJLAC pic.twitter.com/MdHJE2KqM0

Speaking to Pro Wrestling Sheet, GCW promoter Brett Lauderdale defended Gage and wondered if Arquette played things up for a documentary he was filming.
“People are trashing Gage like he forced Arquette into it or sprung it on him without prior consent,” Lauderdale said. “Arquette specifically requested everything that was used in the match and more. I’m also starting to wonder if Arquette himself either planned it this way or was playing it up for the documentary cameras with Luke Perry.”
Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Arquette's representatives did reach out to GCW to use footage for the documentary.
Based on his tweet prior to the match, Arquette seemed to know what he was getting himself into when he signed to face Gage.
What should my last meal be before I battle #nickgage at @GCWrestling_ on Friday?

Has anyone described a wrestling match as a meat soup? That’s what Friday is going to look like @JANELABABY #laconfidential @GCWrestling_ me against @thekingnickgage

After the bout Arquette admitted that he may have made a mistake.
Turns out Death Matches aren’t my thing

Fortunately, Arquette didn't suffer a major injury from the incident.
