The Godfather looks back on the day he was told he couldn't have Ho's anymore.
Charles Wright had a legendary career with WWE, as he had memorable runs as Papa Shango and The Godfather, among other characters.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, The Godfather looked back on taking some time away from WWE and coming back to the company. He then reflected on the end of his time as The Godfather, when he learned that he couldn't have Ho's anymore.
“The reason they got me to come back as Kama is they offered me a Harley, and I’m like, ‘If I can ride a Harley, I’ll come back,’ and then I only had it for a short time before he took it away from me because it was crazy, they were renting them at the time, before Vince had access to a bunch of Harley’s. So once they took the Harley away from me as Kama, I was done. As Godfather, once they made me Goodfather, I was done. Vince was fighting for me the whole time, believe me, bro. Vince would be like, ‘Godfather, I’m fighting for you, bro,’ but they were getting rid of the DX and the ‘suck it’s and the puppies and the Val Venis, and they were going more and more PG, and finally they could only go so far with me. So when Vince said [laughs], it’s so funny, when Vince said, ‘Charles, we’re gonna do this and that,’ and I said was, ‘So no more Ho’s?’ He goes [mumbles], all I heard was [mumbles]. I’m like, ‘So no more Ho’s?’ He goes, ‘Charles, no more Ho’s.’ [Laughs] I’m like, ‘Well, finish me up, then, bro. I’m done.’ He’s like, ‘Wait a minute, wait a minute.’ So we agreed to work out a program, and we did that, and then I was done," The Godfather said.
The Godfather previously announced that he signed a five-year Legends Contract in 2023.
