Hangman Page rebounds and set his sights on the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
Hangman Page lost his AEW World Championship to CM Punk at AEW Double or Nothing. He made his return to action on Wednesday, June 8 against NJPW’s David Finlay. After the match, Adam told the live audience and those watching at home that he doesn't believe he will be getting an AEW World Championship opportunity anytime soon, and therefore, with the Forbidden Door event right around the corner, he threw out a challenge to Kazuchika Okada for the crossover event on June 26.

Adam Cole had other ideas.
Adam Cole, who was on commentary for the match between Finlay and Page, told Hangman that he is now the one that is a champion. Adam is, of course, holding the title belt representative of the Owen Hart Tournament winner, and he believes that he deserves a shot at Okada. Cole also reminded Page that Okada may not even be the champion on June 26. Okada has to defeat Jay White this Sunday at NJPW Dominion in order to make sure he remains champion moving forward.
This match was first reported to be internally listed for the event by Dave Meltzer, who later retracted the report.
