Heath Slater thinks that the Nexus could make an impact if they returned to WWE.
Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, Michael Tarver, Darren Young (Fred Rosser), David Otunga, and Skip Sheffield (Ryback) made a huge impact in the summer of 2010 as they went from NXT rookies to being the Nexus. For a brief time in 2010, those seven men were the most hated faction in all of WWE. They even got the opportunity to headline SummerSlam against the team comprised of John Cena, Edge, Bret Hart, Chris Jericho, R-Truth, Daniel Bryan, and Great Khali.
Several of the members went on to have success in wrestling, in and out of WWE. However, Heath Slater recently spoke with MuscleManMalcolm and highlighted the success of their debut as a group. He also. pondered what the group could accomplish in 2024.
"That was my start. Yes, we were on NXT. We were the foundation of NXT, of what you see today," he said. "It's one of those things where, when you're going after the head dogs, going right for 'em. The first thing you do, to shock the world of wrestling. I mean, it's one of those things where you're like, 'Holy crap, what's happening?' Certainly, the way we did it, surrounding, dominating, tearing up everything, destroying everything, it was one of those things that you didn't see before. What really blows my mind about Nexus is that we were together for what, eight, nine months? People still talk about it 14 years later.
"Come on, man, listen, WWE, Hunter, think about it, baby. We're not boys no more. We're men. Imagine if we came back."
Wade Barrett, the leader of the group, is currently an announcer on WWE Raw. However, he has spoken recently about potentially returning to wrestling. Read his comments here.
