Hirooki Goto is champion once again.

At NJPW Power Struggle, Goto recaptured the NEVER Openweight Title, defeating Taichi to claim the belt for a record tying fourth time. Goto was a late replacement for CHAOS stablemate Will Ospreay, who suffered a rib injury on  Oct. 14.

Goto previously lost the NEVER Openweight Title to Taichi on Sept. 17 at Destruction in Beppu. Taichi did not make a defense of the title. Goto has now won the NEVER Openweight Title three times in 2018. He not only tied the record for most NEVER Openweight title reigns, he will now look to add to his already record holding seven title defenses. He can surpass Tomohiro Ishii for most combined days as champion if he holds the belt through the end of the month.

With the belt back in possession of CHAOS, it remains to be seen what happens to Ospreay and his scheduled title shot.
