Ilja Dragunov headlined the July 15th episode of WWE Raw as he challenged Sami Zayn for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Dragunov had Zayn on the ropes at some points, but Bron Breakker interfered and attacked both men. As a result, the match ended without a decisive winner.
In a Raw Exclusive, Ilja Dragunov was asked to share his thoughts following his loss.
“All I gotta say is that Bron Breakker still has some bones inside him that I need to break. That’s as easy as it gets. With regards to the rest, yeah, I’m very, very close. What do you want to say? Sami Zayn is the prime example of a true champion. He is at his best when he fights from the ground, and every time, every single time, he leaves his soul in this ring. But so do I. So I did today. So I showed to him that I can do that. I showed to everyone that I can do that, that I can play this game. If no one is convinced at [this] point, then people are blind because look in my face. You see a sheer symbol of will, and I’m not about to stop right now. Not at all," Dragunov said.
