Jack Swagger wants you to stand up for the independent wrestling scene.
While promoting a show for The Wrestling Revolver promotions next show, Tales From the Ring, Swagger talked about a continuing trend he's seeing on the independent scene as of late -- WWE continually going into towns where independent promotions are running shows at, running shows of their own in an aggressive manner.
“I’m new to the independent scene, but I’ve seen a trend arising and I wanted to speak on it" he said. "Whenever certain promotions run their bigger shows, especially around the holidays, WWE likes to come in to the same market and run a show at the same time.”
During the promo, he tied it into the upcoming Wrestling Revolver show, saying that something is up when a Smackdown show (in this case, the return of Starrcade) is running in the same area the same weekend of that show and WrestleCade.
"Coincidence? I mean, possibly" he said. "They do book their shows months and months ahead of time. But what is even more possible is that WWE saw the card for The Revolver and said ‘oh sh-t, that’s a great roster.' This is gonna be a big show. Indies are hot. We should get some of that. To me, this is a slap in the face. Typical WWE saying they’re a bigger company and they can come into your market and push you around and run a show whenever they like.”
