Jay Briscoe Passes Away At 38

Jamin Pugh, also known as Jay Briscoe, has passed away.

AEW president and ROH owner Tony Khan announced the news on January 18. He stated that he'd do whatever he could to support Briscoe's family.

Jay and his brother Mark Briscoe are Ring of Honor Hall of Famers, and they held the ROH World Tag Team Championship 13 times. They were the reigning ROH World Tag Team Champions, as the duo defeated FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) to win the titles at ROH Final Battle 2022. Jay is also a former ROH World Champion.

The Briscoes also won the NWA Crockett Cup in 2022, and they held the IWGP World Tag Team Championship, among many other accolades. They wrestled for numerous promotions and won many titles. In 2022, they had a brief run in IMPACT Wrestling and won the tag titles there.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer tweeted that Briscoe passed away in a car accident in Laurel, Delaware, on Tuesday afternoon, and two people were killed in the crash.

The Delaware State Police confirmed the news.
