Jeff Jarrett Talks Possibly Transitioning To Commentary After His In-Ring Career Comes To An End

Jeff Jarrett would be open to a commentary career after he hangs up the boots.

Despite being an active competitor for nearly 40 years at this point, Jeff Jarrett appears to still be quite focused on his in-ring career in AEW. Jarrett is just months removed from his recent feud with one of the promotion's top stars, 'Hangman' Adam Page.

'The Last Outlaw' brought something new to the table on the October 8 edition of AEW Dynamite, joining the commentary booth alongside Tony Schiavone and Excalibur. The trio also carried over to call the October 11 edition of AEW Rampage.

On the latest edition of his My World podcast, a fan asked Jarrett if he'd be open to taking on a commentary position after he swings his guitar for the very last time. In response, Jarrett revealed that he thought Schiavone was ribbing him when he proposed the idea.

“Tony Schiavone came to me in catering and he sat down and kind of did some, I don’t wanna say warm up conversation. Then he said, ‘Hey, you’re gonna do Dynamite tonight.’ I’m like, ‘Do what?’ He’s like, ‘You’re gonna be the third man.’ I said, ‘No, no, no.’ He said, ‘Really?’ I said, ‘You ribbing? What’s going on?’ He said, ‘Nope. The man has requested you to do it and they want to know if you’re up for it.’ I’m like, ‘Well what do you think Tony?’ Tony said, ‘You’ll be fine.’”

Jarrett went on to say that he is open to the idea of being a commentator after years and years of being against it.

“Prior to that, I would have said no. I’ve said it on this podcast many times. I had the conversation I don’t know how many times with Mike Tenay through the years when we would be going through show notes and prep. I used to have those conversations with Lawler about how damn good he was. Schiavone, JR, it is a freaking art to do that. But yeah, I would. When the time [comes], if it ever, that would be a bonus to the career. Yeah, prior to Spokane and me doing that one episode of Dynamite and Rampage, I would have said zero chance. You never know, I’ll just sit back and have fun with it. I love being part of the Zero Hour panel.”
