Jerry Lawler is proud of the talent that went through Memphis.
During the 1990s, Jerry Lawler's promotion United States Wrestling Association was one of the top promotions during a time when professional wrestling was regionalized into territories. In an interview with Hannibal TV, Lawler said he had a lot of talent come through his promotion on their way to Hall of Fame careers.
"In the eighties, Memphis we had some of the greatest wrestling talent start there or come through there. Guys who went on to become huge stars in WWE. The Rock got his start right there, the Undertaker got his start right there, the Blade Runners who became Sting and the Ultimate Warrior got their start there, and Stone Cold Steve Austin started there," said Lawler.
Lawler attributed his promotions success to the popularity of the weekly ninety minute show. Also during the interview Lawler talked about what has been doing while he has not been on WWE commentary regularly including wrestling about once a week.
