Jim Ross Comments On Steve Austin Potentially Returning To The Ring

Jim Ross has weighed in on Steve Austin potentially stepping back inside the ring.

On February 14, Fightful Select reported "WWE has made a significant overture towards one of the biggest draws in WWE history "Stone Cold" Steve Austin for an in-ring return at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas."

ROH Title Match Contract Signing Added To Wednesday's AEW Dynamite

As of now, it is unknown if Austin will do one more match at WrestleMania.

Speaking during a Q&A Session for AdFreeShows, Austin's long-time friend and colleague Jim Ross was asked about the news of Austin potentially returning.

"Steve still has great passion for the business," he said. "He's 50 years old, I don't think he wants to reignite his wrestling career. I don't know that the success that AEW has had with a guy that is older than him, and another legend in Sting, has influenced that creative or idea, I don't know. I talk to Steve about once a month and more often than not we don't talk about wrestling. He doesn't watch a lot of wrestling and I probably watch too much. We just don't go there. It's a football conversation or home improvement stuff or food, the grill. We're just old friends and there are a million things we can talk about, we don't have to talk pro wrestling. It's an interesting concept. He'll sell a lot of tickets if he's booked. They're burning daylight on getting closer and closer to their D Day. One would assume that if he's going to do something, it'll be finalized sooner or later. I just don't know if it's going to happen or not. It goes online, hits the timeline, and all of a sudden it's fact. It proves our society is very naive. It's not that simple. If he wants to do it, I hope he does. It would be great. There is a whole generation of fans that haven't seen his full presentation inside the ring. I think it would be entertaining for anybody."

Austin has not been on WWE television since 3:16 day in March 2020. He hosts the Broken Skull Sessions interview series on Peacock/WWE Network.

Fightful will continue to update fans on the status of Austin when more is known.
