Jim Ross discusses his return to AEW television.
Ross had been sidelined since the premiere episode of AEW Collision on June 17. Due to a fall he suffered prior to the show, Ross stepped away to heal. He later noted that he didn't have a date for his return. Ross then stated that he hoped to be back for AEW All In, if not sooner. He made his return on the August 5 episode of AEW Collision, where he joined Ian Riccaboni and Nigel McGuinness for the main event match between CM Punk and Ricky Starks.
Speaking on Grilling JR, Ross shared his thoughts on his return.
“It was great. It was absolutely great. You always wonder if you can maintain your timing and how you’re gonna fit in with two new guys, Ian [Riccaboni] and Nigel [McGuinness]. I had fun working with those guys. They did a good job. They’re prepared, they’re unselfish, they listen. That’s one of the key things about announcing is listening to your partner or partners so that you can connect the dots and not leave someone hanging. So I had fun. I had a good time. The match that we had, CM Punk and Ricky Starks, with Steamboat, was excellent," Ross said.
Ross subsequently noted that he was ready to back to work the following weekend.
On the August 16 episode of AEW Dynamite, Ross will have a sit-down interview with Kenny Omega. Check out the card here.
