Jim Ross Says Royal Rumble Criticism Coming From 'Contrarians'

Jim Ross thinks social media outlets influenced fans into being disappointed.

WWE Royal Rumble was Sunday. Three title changes took place including John Cena winning a world title. Randy Orton won the Royal Rumble match. In his Monday blog, Ross addressed the criticisms of the pay-per-view with criticism for the attitudes of the viewers. In a recent blog, he said despite some disappointed fans, most people enjoyed the rumble. He did not watch the event live but when he got home from traveling.

"I enjoyed the show overall. This was a strong Royal Rumble. In today's marketplace with a legion of contrarians influenced by multiple, social media outlets, it seemed that most fans enjoyed the show but there is no way to please everyone especially those who feel that they have enough high level product knowledge to be a better booker than those who are actually doing the work. The bottom line regarding the Rumble is how much did it set up Wrestlemania and we likely won't be able to judge that until the Wrestlemania card is publicly finalized," wrote Ross.

Orton will be in a main event spot at Wrestlemania 33 because he won. Cena earned his sixteenth world title, tying Ric Flair's long standing record. Ross says Cena and his opponent AJ Styles stole the show. He would also spend time discussing NXT Takeover: San Antonio and the individual matches at WWE Royal Rumble
