John Cena Explains Why 'LOL Cena Wins' Was Necessary At The Time

John Cena was the face of WWE for a decade in the 2000s to the 2010s, winning 15 world championships between 2005 and 2015.

The running joke online became "LOL Cena Wins" as fans got tired of Cena constantly winning main event matches.

“One of the biggest hang-ups in the middle portion of my career was that, spoiler alert, John wins. What people don’t understand is, I think now, maybe, as we begin to reflect back here on this last run of like, ‘Hey, man, I was in it for the long haul," Cena said about the criticism while speaking to Chris McPherson of Collider. “The way you make those losses impactful is sometimes you’ve got to win, and sometimes you’ve got to win a lot. Any time you can pass energy on to somebody, that’s kind of the life cycle of the business. You come in an unknown and, hopefully, you get the flywheel spinning, you create all this energy on your way out, you pay it forward, you pass it off.”

Cena hasn't won a singles matches in WWE since 2018. He is 0-4 during that time.

Cena is currently on his farewell tour and is set to compete in the Royal Rumble match at WWE Royal Rumble.
