JTG Says Shad Gaspard Should Get WWE Warrior Award

JTG wants Shad Gaspard to win WWE's Warrior Award.

It's been months since Gaspard's untimely death and his former tag team partner talked with Chris Van Vliet. Talking about Gaspard and WWE's Warrior Award which is handed out at its Hall of Fame ceremony, JTG said Gaspard should win it based on his heroic actions on the day of his death back in May.

Previous winners of the Warrior Award include Connor "The Crusher" Michalek, Joan Lunden, Eric LeGrand, Sue Aitchison and more.

"He definitely should. I don't know what's a bigger heroic act than putting his life on the line for his son. But honestly, he would have done it if it was another child. If it was me, he probably would have did the same exact thing," JTG said.

JTG admitted that he thinks about Gaspard every day and that he looks at pictures of him that are saved on his phone. JTG considered Gaspard as a brother, helping each other out whenever they can.

Gaspard went missing on May 17 in Venice Beach when he was pulled under by a rip current. Gaspard and his 10-year-old son were swimming when the riptide began and lifeguards rushed to rescue them. Gaspard directed lifeguards to save his son, which they did. Unfortunately, Gaspard was pulled under. An autopsy ruled Gaspard's death an accident.

"Every day. I've got a lot of photos in my room of Shad. I have so many photos of Shad in my phone. When I'm scrolling, I can't get away from him. But it's a good thing though. I don't know if a lot of people know this but me and Shad were best friends. We were like brothers. We were pretty much like family. I spent a few Thanksgivings with him and his family. If I had an issue or financial problem or if I just had like personal problems, he was there for me. He was always there for me," JTG said.
