Karrion Kross Reflects On ‘They Ring The Freakin Bell’ Promo With Adam Cole

On the June 1, 2021 episode of NXT, Karrion Kross and Adam Cole went toe-to-toe on the microphone.

Cole called Kross overrated and said NXT did everything to make Kross feel special, but the only thing they needed to make Cole feel special is "they ring the freakin' bell."

Many fans viewed the promo as Cole "burying" Kross and making him look weak.

Speaking to Sam Roberts on Not Sam Wrestling, Kross reflected on the exchange.

"It was a weird day. I knew it was going to be a good promo. What they wanted out of that was for people to believe it was true. The way they had to keep people alive there, since I was on a murder run, was they had to get over the character somehow and some capacity. Give them mic time and let them look strong and stay strong in that capacity. I didn’t feel any particular way about it. I thought, at the time, it was strange that they didn’t want me to get it back. Then, that became a thing. Johnny (Gargano) would do that the following week. Okay, now I understand what’s going on. It wasn’t thoroughly explained to me at the time, but they needed everybody in the match (to be strong). It didn’t strike me, personally," said Kross.

Kross would go on to defeat Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano, Kyle O'Reilly and Pete Dunne in a five-way match at NXT In Your House 2021.

Kross held the NXT Championship for 136 days in his second run.

Elsewhere during the interview, Kross offered praise for The Miz. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
