KENTA comments on a potential match with CM Punk.
CM Punk and KENTA will forever be linked as they both use the GTS as their finishing move. Despite KENTA making references to Punk online, a match between the two has never come to fruition.
“Do people want to see me vs. CM Punk? We can’t fight for the GTS. The GTS is mine," KENTA told Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated.
In June 2023, KENTA said a match with Punk would never happen.
Fightul Select reported at the time that KENTA vs. CM Punk was the planned direction for AEW Forbidden Door 2023. Shortly following that, Fightful Select was told that Punk "wasn't thrilled with working with KENTA and he may come across badly in an interview," referencing the CM Punk interview with ESPN. There was no mention of KENTA in the article.
Punk is currently signed to WWE. KENTA is set to compete at MLW Blood & Thunder against Bobby Fish.
