Watch any wrestling match, especially one with multiple near falls, and pay attention to the person who is being pinned.
Look where their head and eyes are as the referee begins his or her three count.
For Kevin Blackwood, he is paying attention to the cadence, not the arm.
"One of the refs at Deadlock when I wrestled Titus [Alexander] again for DPW this past weekend, Frank the ref was like, “Kevin, you know something that terrifies me is that when we do these nearfalls, and you have your eyes closed every time.” Most guys will watch for the tight three, you know? I do that because I heard Steve Austin say in an interview that if you can’t feel the cadence of the nearfall, then it’s like, what are you even doing? If Steve Austin said it, I’m down. I gotta abide by that," Blackwood said while speaking to Jeremy Lambert & Stephen Jensen on The Spotlight.
Steve Austin certainly knows a thing or two about drawing money in the professional wrestling business.
Blackwood is the reigning West Coast Pro Champion and is one of the top names on the independent scene, competing regularly for WCP, DEADLOCK, Prestige, and more.
