Kevin Owens Added To WWE Championship Match At WWE Day 1

The WWE Championship will be defended in a triple threat match at WWE Day 1.

The November 29 edition of WWE Raw kicked off with Seth Rollins announcing that he would be challenging Big E for the WWE Title on January 1, 2022, at WWE Day 1. The Visionary earned the opportunity by winning a #1 Contenders Fatal Four Way Ladder Match on October 25.

Backstage, Kevin Owens confronted Rollins and informed him that he had just spoken with Adam Pearce and negotiated a deal that would see him added to the WWE Championship match if he defeated Big E later in tonight's show. Rollins called Owens a liar, at which point Owens told him to ask Adam Pearce himself.

Seth marched right to the WWE Official's office and demanded clarification on the matter. Pearce insisted that Owens fabricated the story and that no such conversation took place. A relieved Rollins left the room, but when Sonya Deville entered and was told what happened, she said that it wasn't a bad idea.

After another run-in backstage, Owens continued to insist that he was telling the truth and that he would be added to the Day 1 match if he beat Big E tonight. Rollins, visibly annoyed, darted right back to Pearce and Deville's office, except this time they had decided to go along with Owens' proposal, a fact that sent Seth flying off the handles.

During the main event, Big E and Owens each had plenty of chances to close the other out, but it was Rollins attacking Owens that ultimately ended the match. Owens baited Rollins by attacking him while he was on commentary and The Visionary just couldn't help but retaliate. As a result, Kevin Owens was declared the winner of the match and added to the WWE Championship bout at Day 1.
