Kofi Kingston is going to the next round.
At the WWE live event on May 12, Kofi Kingston defeated Rey Mysterio in a first-round match in the King of the Ring tournament. Kingston countered the 619 and hit Mysterio with Trouble in Paradise to clinch the win.
Kingston will face former WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther in the quarterfinals; they will clash on the May 13 episode of WWE Raw.

Kingston commented on his win by saying that he was one step closer, and he wanted to win it for Xavier Woods. On the May 6 episode of WWE Raw, Kingston stated that Woods was unable to compete in the tournament due to Gunther viciously attacking his leg.

Gunther defeated Sheamus in a first-round tournament match on the May 6 episode of WWE Raw.
The King of the Ring finals will be held at WWE King and Queen of the Ring on May 25.
