In his first offense of the AEW International Championship, Konosuke Takeshita defeated TNA Wrestling star Josh Alexander in the main event of Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling Forged In Excellence Sunday.
Despite being a heel on TNA Wrestling television, Alexander played the babyface in his home country of Canada.
Much like the match on the first night of Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling Forged In Excellence that Takeshita had against Mike Bailey, both men hit each other with everything they had. Takeshita overcame a slight ankle injury, multiple Ankle Locks, and a C4 Spike to eventually put Alexander away with the Raging Fire, a Spinning Falcon Arrow.

At AEW WrestleDream, Konosuke Takeshita defeated Will Ospreay and Ricochet to capture the International Championship just eight days before his first defense. Now, Takeshita heads back to All Elite Wrestling as a triumphant champion, while Alexander must turn his attention to TNA Bound For Glory and his upcoming match with Steve Maclin.
