Kota Ibushi: I Will Report To AEW If My Doctor Tells Me I Can Compete, Please Wait A Little More

Kota Ibushi asks fans to wait a little more.

Kota Ibushi has not wrestled since he beat Naomichi Marufuji at NOAH The New Year 2024 on January 2. During the match, Ibushi suffered an ankle injury, and he was subsequently taken to the hospital. NOAH announced that he was diagnosed with a right tibiofibular ligament tear and a right ankle lateral ligament complex injury, and Ibushi was set for surgery in January. Ibushi recently stated that he was still rehabbing his ankle injury.

On June 19, Ibushi took to Twitter/X to respond to a fan who noted that someone needed to avenge Kenny Omega after The Elite took him out. The fan asked whether Ibushi would be back to AEW to avenge Omega. Ibushi replied by saying, "Of course," before noting that if his doctor told him that he could compete, he would report to AEW and return immediately.

Ibushi wrote that he was 85% alive, and he asked fans to wait a little more.

Ibushi last wrestled for AEW on the November 15, 2023, episode of AEW Dynamite. As of this writing, there is no word on when Kota Ibushi will return to AEW.

Fightful wishes Ibushi well in his recovery, and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
