He's worked with countless referees over the course of his hall of fame career, but for Kurt Angle, one stands out above the rest.
During a recent 'Gold Medal Q&A' on AdFreeShows, Angle was asked about his favorite referee to work with, and without hesitation named Brian Hebner. According to Kurt, it was Hebner's level of investment in each match that elevated him above everyone else.
"Well, I'm not going to lie, Brian Hebner is the best referee I've ever been in the ring with. It's Earl Hebner's son, you obviously know Baby Heb. The great thing about him, what made him separate from everybody else is most of the refs come to you and say, 'What's the finish?' You tell them the finish and they say, 'Okay, I got it. I don't want to know anything else.' Brian wants to know the whole match. He wants to know the structure of the match, how it's laid out, when the heat starts, when the comeback starts. He wants to know all the false finishes. He douses himself in the match. He's almost like another wrestler. That's what I loved about him. He always wanted to get involved in the matches and that's why he's my favorite," Angle said.
Brian, much like Kurt, is best known for his time with WWE and IMPACT Wrestling.
