Lee Johnson reflects on Cody Rhodes' AEW exit.
Back at the beginning of 2022, Cody Rhodes announced that he was exiting AEW and would soon return to WWE. Cody was integeral to the formation of All Elite Wrestling, and the decision left many on the roster surprised, including Lee Johnson, who Cody had worked with on AEW television previously.
While speaking during an episode of Ruthless Talk, Lee reflected on Cody's exit, expressing his shock at the turn of events.
"Just shock. I guess is the only word that, you know, I can say. I was very shocked. But also I understand that Cody had to do what it was that Cody felt was best for him. So I always have a lot of love for him, you know. So, yeah, I guess just shocked was really all that I felt in the moment. I'm sure a lot of wrestling fans, a lot of coworkers, et cetera, probably just felt the same way."
Rhodes would eventually capture the WWE Championship at WrestleMania XL earlier this year, finishing his story.
