Lex Luger: I'm A Little Concerned For Cody Rhodes, Maybe He Missed His Moment At WrestleMania 39

Lex Luger comments on Cody Rhodes' failure to finish the story at WrestleMania 39.

Lex Luger is one of the poster children for a failed main event push in WWE. In 1993, Lex Luger was pushed to the top of the card in lieu of Hulk Hogan, who had just departed the company. Luger would be presented as the All-American hero, failing to take the WWE Championship from Yokozuna at the 1993 WWE SummerSlam event.

30 years later, Cody Rhodes was clad in red, white, and blue gear, and failed to defeat Roman Reigns (a relative of Yokozuna) at WWE WrestleMania 39.

Speaking on the inaugural episode of his podcast, Lex Expressed, Lex Luger reflected on Cody Rhodes coming up short at WrestleMania 39 and the similarities to his own situation from three decades prior.

"There is a lot to say for seizing the moment. Cody had a lot of momentum," Lex began. "Sometimes, you have to seize the moment. Now, we see other stars rising up. There's talk of The Rock coming in. Cody, I think he's one of the best workers, the best interview. His costuming is immaculate. I love Cody Rhodes, but I'm a little concerned for him. I know he's very confident and I don't know about the storyline they have for him, but maybe he missed his moment there. So, we shall see. To be continued. I hope not."

Cody Rhodes refuses to give up hope on finishing the story. The latest chapter in his story sees him as the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion alongside another member of The Bloodline, Jey Uso.

Elsewhere on this podcast, Lex Luger spoke about being a fan of professional wrestling more today than when he was an active wrestler. Read more here.
