Lita Says There Were 'Potential Opportunities' Floating Around Before WWE Royal Rumble Return

Lita is set to return to the ring at WWE Royal Rumble when she is one of 30 competitors to enter the women's Royal Rumble.

Lita hasn't wrestled since 2018 when she entered the women's Royal Rumble, competed at WWE Evolution, and had a ten-woman tag team match on WWE Raw.

Appearing on Throwing Down with Renee Paquette & Miesha Tate, Lita discussed training for her return and mentioned that there were "potential opportunities" for her before WWE called.

"The pandemic like simplified everyone's priorities because it's only what's in front of your plate. I feel like I spent the first half of the pandemic eating too much junk and processed food and doing absolutely nothing then going, even if the pandemic ends, you can't slowly kill yourself laying around and eating junk food.' I had already started to lifestyle train, which is very different from GI Jane training, but I was starting to remember what it felt like, 'oh, it feels good to move your body. It feels good to push yourself.' It was very baby steps. There were some potential opportunities floating around that I was like, 'maybe, maybe, maybe,' and then it was this thing [The Rumble] that was, 'Yes or no. Do you want to do the Rumble on this date, are you in?' I put my feet to the fire and was like, 'Yes, I'm in.' Now that I'm in, it's time to make the most of it," she said.

Fightful Select reported, "AEW had reached out to the WWE Hall of Famer back in 2021 to appear on a show, but the two sides were unable to come to terms."

Lita mentioned that she has been training at Hoodslam and a trampoline park to make sure her moonsault is right as disaster nearly struck when she performed the move at the 2018 Royal Rumble.

"Most Indie schools, or a lot, we're working with what we got; low ceilings. You're not jumping off the top rope in there. 'Okay, this creates a problem.' I'm not going in cold to the Rumble again and doing the moonsault in front of a live audience for the first time, which is what I did on the first Royal Rumble. It was scary for all of us, mostly me. It as scariest for me, but I understand I scared all of ya'll. It was the first time I was up there like, 'Uhhh, is this something I should do?' I had never felt that way. Usually, it's, 'Cool, this is an exclamation point,' at that point I was like, 'Oh, this could be really bad,'" she recalled.

Lita returned to WWE television on the January 14 episode of WWE SmackDown to confront Charlotte Flair.
