Morgan had not wrestled since the July 17, 2023 episode of WWE Raw when she and Raquel Rodriguez lost the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships to Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville. She was sidelined with a shoulder injury, according to WWE. She was arrested on December 14 and charged with possession of synthetic cannabinoid and possession of cannabis (20 grams or less). The first charge was later dropped.

Speaking to Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Morgan commented on her return.

"It's been a journey, the last six months. It's been a fight, it's been a struggle. To come back at the Royal Rumble, in the coveted 30 spot, I was very happy and I felt honored. Just happy to be back, happy to be back doing what I love, doing my thing. Came really really close, but I am happy for Bayley nonetheless," she said.

For the second straight year, Morgan finished as the runner up in the Rumble.
