Lucha Underground Season 2 Just Ended, But Season 3 is Right Around The Corner

Season 2 of Lucha Underground just ended with Ultima Lucha Dos. A week later, and we now know the start date of Season 3.

But first, a look back at where we ended up.

EC3 Names Cal Herro And Luke Kurtis As Wrestlers That Stand Out To Him In OVW

Prince Puma and Rey Mysterio Jr had a match for the ages.

The Queen of Lucha, Sexy Star, won the Gift of the Gods Championship by besting six other wrestlers, including her former kidnappers, a brother and sister team who have an unhealthy obsession with butterflies.

Dario Cueto, a Spanish millionaire with a violence fetish, and the boss of this promotion, was arrested for murdering a wrestler in his employ, who was wearing a wire and working as an informant for two undercover cops that are also wrestlers.

But before that, Dario's brother, Splatterhouse-movie-villain Matanza Cueto retained the LU Championship by outlasting pissed-off ninja skeleton Pentagon Jr, who responded by drinking the blood of his dark master Vampiro and declaring that he was now the master. Does drinking the blood of a vampire make you a vampire? No one can say for sure.

But we might get an answer a lot sooner that we thought.

That's right, believers, Lucha Underground Season 3 premieres in 41 days.

That is so soon.

And there are going to be 40 episodes.

FORTY.

For reference, Season 2 only had 26 episodes.

Season 3 begins on September 7 and it ends in JUNE.

We're going to get Lucha Underground through the entire winter.
Dare we hope for a Christmas episode?

Here at Fightful, we're going to be counting down the minutes until September 7 at 8/7c.

If you're interested in all that Lucha Underground has to offer, read our explainer for the uninitiated here.

You can get all caught up on Season 2 here, or on both seasons, as all of the episodes are on iTunes.

Until September 7, believers.  I'll see you in the temple.
