Mariah May will defend the gold at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam.
On the September 18th episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May and Serena Deeb faced Yuka Sakazaki and Queen Aminata. May hit Sakazaki with her title, so Sakazaki and Aminata won the match via disqualification.
In a digital exclusive, Mariah May called out Yuka Sakazaki and challenged her to face her at AEW Grand Slam. She did not specify whether the match would be on Dynamite or Collision.
“I was always told that when you told this [title], you have a big target on your back. Yeah, I don’t work that way. When I fold this, I hold the gun, and every woman in that locker room is lined up against the wall for me to take a shot at point-blank. Yuka, at Grand Slam, it’s you. It really bothers me how artificially happy you are. Firstly, I’m the only woman in that locker room who has anything to be happy about. Secondly, I know who you really are. You are five years older than me. I see through this gimmick. You call yourself the Magic Girl? Well that’s because magic is fake. I’ve seen you in Japan. They call you a bully. They call you the killer. Well, I’d like to see it. In New York, in front of my darling, precious Mina [Shirakawa], give me your very best so I can make you feel your absolute worst. Then we’ll see how happy you really are," May said.
Tony Khan then confirmed the match for AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam.
