Mark Briscoe: It's My Sophomore Season As A Singles Talent, I'm Strarting To Hit My Stride

Mark Briscoe is just getting started.

The wrestling world sadly lost Jay Briscoe (Jamin Pugh) on January 17, 2023. Alongside his brother Mark Briscoe, the Briscoes were the most decorated tag team in independent wrestling history and one of the top tag teams in the world.

Since Jay's passing, Mark has journeyed into the world of singles competition, and has fared well for himself, winning the ROH World Title earlier this year.

“It’s my sophomore season. I really feel like I’m starting to hit my stride. I had to work out some of them kinks in my rookie season. But I’m really, really enjoying myself doing singles and doing trios. The stuff with The Conglomeration, that just came out of nowhere, man, but it’s so cool. But I’m loving it. It’s weird because when Jay first passed, it was really a legitimate, in that moment, I did not know if I ever wanted to wrestle again. Now it’s like, the devil’s a liar, man. He wanted me to never wrestle again, but Jamin, I can just feel him and feel his presence snd his joy through what I’m able to continue to do. I thank Tony so much for the opportunity and I thank all of y’all for continuing to watch and cheer when you want to cheer, boo when you want to do. But it’s a very unexpected point in my career. If you would have asked me any more than two years ago, I never would have thought that I’d be doing what I’m doing right now, with Jay still with me but not in the physical. It’s amazing, man. I’m feeling good right now. I’m feeling really good," Mark said at the ROH Death Before Dishonor press conference when asked by Joe Hayden of the Dallas Morning News about being a singles talent.

Briscoe successfully defended his ROH World Title against Roderick Strong at ROH Death Before Dishonor.
