Matt Cardona would be open to doing a cinematic match where he fights himself.
Matt Cardona was released by WWE in 2020. Since then, he has made quite a name for himself in multiple promotions, having a two-year run that has eclipsed the decade-plus he spent as Zack Ryder. But what would happen if Matt Cardona had to go one-on-one with Zack Ryder, a la The Undertaker vs. The Undertaker at WWE SummerSlam 1994?
Now, in a new interview with Kevin Kellam of Sportskeeda Wrestling, Matt Cardona has he would be open to doing a cinematic match where it's his current persona versus his WWE persona, even though he doesn't own the Zack Ryder IP.
"I would love to do it. It's a cinematic match. I don't have the skills to do that kind of editor job, if there's someone listening who knows how to do it, I would love to do it. I guess, technically, I couldn't use the Zack Ryder IP since I'm not in WWE, but I thought about doing something like that before. It'd be really, really fun. I have to shave my beard though."
Elsewhere in this interview, Cardona speaks about why he believes he would need to return to WWE under his real name effectively ending Zack Ryder forever. Read more here.
Matt Cardona will have the opportunity to regain the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at Hard Times 3. Fans can check out the full card for the event here.
