Matt Riddle will not be at the September event.
Back in June, Pro Wrestling Guerilla announced the participants of the Battle of Los Angeles tournament. Matt Riddle was one of the few wrestlers in the tournament who had wrestled in a BOLA tournament before. On Monday night, PWG announced Matt Riddle would be replaced by Trevor Lee in the tournament.
This announcement comes after rumors were circulating online of Riddle signing an exclusive deal with a promotion.
Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp was told that WWE wants to get Riddle under contract in addition to any other "game changers" outside of WWE. ROH's expansion into Madison Square Garden only accelerated this.
Fight Wrestling will have coverage and results from the BOLA event on September 14th, 15th, and 16th and there will be continued reporting on the status of Riddle and any major changes to his professional wrestling career.
