Matthew Jackson comments on the recent change that he and his brother, Nicholas Jackson, have undergone.
The Young Bucks have completely embraced a new side of themselves on AEW TV. Wearing suits, growing out their facial hair, and taking their jobs as EVPs very seriously. It just so happens that they also have carried themselves as extremely violent people in recent weeks.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Matthew Jackson proclaims that he and his brother simply embrace the hate they receive. As for yesteryear's wrestling personalities that tend to disagree with how they carry themselves inside and outside the squared circle, well Matt Jackson says their tears fill the lazy river in his backyard. He even jokingly says he bathes in them whenever he sees fit.
“Our success is undeniable,” said Matthew Jackson. “One day, we will get our flowers, but unfortunately, they will be at our gravesides. When you are cast as a villain, you must accept that role, but we know what we’ve done–we lived it. Hate our style of wrestling? Hate the way we look? Hate the way we talk? That’s fine, but we made a lot of people a lot of money. I bathe in the tears of yesterday’s broke wrestling personalities, whose only content is talking about what I did last, in my backyard lazy river.”
Now as Matthew and Nicholas Jackson prepare to take on Sting and Darby Allin in what will be the final match in Sting's career, Matthew says he used to pray with Sting when they first met in TNA in 2010. On March 3, 2024, he and Nicholas will say a quick prayer for Sting, before they end his career.
“I was a poor, newly married man with a baby on the way when I first met Sting in TNA Wrestling in 2010,” said Matthew. “We’d hold hands and pray before some of the big shows. Now I’m extremely wealthy, wildly successful, married to the same beautiful woman, and have two kids who adore me. Nicholas and I will keep the tradition alive Sunday at Revolution and say a quick prayer for Sting before our match.”
Matthew and Nicholas Jackson made this match very personal when they attacked Sting's children shortly after staying and Darby Allin captured the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
