Mick Foley discusses skipping out on the WWE Raw XXX celebration in favor of another opportunity where he may play more of a featured role down the line.
Mick Foley is one of the essential Superstars in the history of Monday Night Raw. However, despite his legacy being attached to the heyday of WWE Raw in the Attitude Era, Mick Foley was absent from celebrating the 30th anniversary of Monday Night Raw on Monday, January 23, 2023.
Mick Foley had previously stated on social media that while he was invited to take part in the celebration, he declined. Instead, "The Hardcore Legend" opted to watch the show from home with his family feeling that he had been on the road a lot filming for the latest season of WWE's Most Wanted Treasures, slated to air later this year on the A&E Network.
On the latest episode of Foley is Pod, Mick Foley further explained why he elected not to be on WWE Raw XXX, detailing the extent of the travel he has been partaking in and explaining that he feels he would not have been able to add much to the show.
"I'm involved to some extent with this show on WWE. I've spent more time in Connecticut, not necessarily at WWE headquarters, but right up the road, working with WWE personnel on a show I'm really proud of," said Mick. "I'm really proud of this, but there's an extravagant amount of traveling because I have to travel to where the talent is available when they are available. So it's not like logistically a loop is being set up."
In detailing his travel, Mick Foley has revealed portions of what will come on the next season of Most Wanted Treasures, including episodes featuring Bill Goldberg and Kurt Angle.
"If I can visit the milk truck in Modesto, California, I gotta go out and see that milk truck when Kurt Angle is available, right? Bill Goldberg, he's got a lot of things on his plate. So I've got to go out to Kansas when Bill's available, not because he lives there, but because that's where our collector is. So just for example, there was one three-day stretch where I went from Florida to Modesto, California. Modesto, California to Boston. Boston, to Hutchinson, Kansas, which is not a direct flight, and then back to Florida. So you're literally putting like 30 flying hours together by the time you're done," said Mick.
"The 30th anniversary of Raw, like every anniversary, falls in that third week of January, where they have, to me, their second biggest show of the year to promote. You know going in that there's only room for three speaking roles, and everyone else is in the poker game. So that's a long way to go when you've been on the road for 25 days, or whatever the case is, and you just want to see your family," added Foley.
Furthermore, Mick Foley discussed wanting to make his next appearance on WWE television noteworthy, citing upcoming opportunities to promote Most Wanted Treasures and celebrate the 25th anniversary of his Hell in a Cell match against the Undertaker from King of the Ring 1998.
"Besides that point, I did say to John Cone, 'John, we've got the show to promote and the 25th anniversary of Hell in a Cell.' The last time I was on WWE programming was over two years ago for The Undertaker tribute, and the last time I had a speaking role was a year before that. So it's my first time in 3 years; I just feel like there's more of a contribution I could make if it comes to helping promote the show or something that, perhaps, Undertaker and I can do together to honor the 25th anniversary of the Cell match. All that went into the decision-making process, and I came up with the idea that it would be better for me to be at home for that particular show."
The Undertaker did appear on WWE Raw XXX, returning to his American Badass character and interacting with Bray Wyatt and LA Knight. Fans can read comments from the Undertaker about his appearance at this link.
