Mick Foley: The Third Hour Of WWE Raw Is Like "A Giant Albatross Around Your Neck"

Mick Foley discusses the third hour of Raw.

It's no secret by now that WWE is trying to do what they can to boost the viewership numbers of the third hour of Raw. Viewership numbers take a big dip in the final hour and WWE has tried to make the final hour "more Raw" by making production changes and teasing an "edgier" product from 10 to 11 p.m. ET.

Mick Foley was the man who promised "more Raw on Monday" when he introduced the 24/7 Title on the May 20 Raw. And, according to Foley, WWE's quest for third-hour ratings have been going on for quite some time.

"Believe it or not, Vince revises things as they go. I see Renee [Young] and Corey [Graves] 30 minutes before the show and they're just waiting for the matches. [They said] 'they're still in a meeting.' Vince thrives on 'flying by the seat of his pants' instead of asking someone for directions. Vince enjoys that," stated Foley in an interview with Busted Open Radio. "The idea is that the third hour is going to get rougher, wilder, and more unpredictable. When I was GM, I knew that people were breaking towards the SmackDown show because it was the darling of the Internet. The idea was 'why don't you try [having] a third hour.' It was like a giant albatross around your neck. The third hour is really difficult. I think it's an idea to have the third hour more unpredictable and more like the Attitude Era."

Foley served as the General Manager of Raw from July 2016 to March 2017.

In the same interview, Foley discussed the 24/7 Title and how he would have changed his promo. You can view his comments by clicking here.
