The Miz Believes It Was Time To End ‘The Marine’ Film Franchise After The 6th Film

The Miz explains why there has not been a Marine movie since ‘The Marine 6: Close Quarters’ in 2018.

The Marine movie franchise was WWE’s first foray into the movie world in the modern era. The franchise started with a theatrical release featuring John Cena and the sequel which featured Ted DiBiase kick-started the straight-to-DVD movie releases for the franchise. Starting with the third movie, The Marine got its permanent star with the Miz, who took part in four of the six Marine movies.

The final movie featured Becky Lynch and Shawn Michaels as well and The Miz’s character was killed off. Speaking about this on the MackMania podcast, The Miz says it was time for a change and a potential end to the franchise but he does believe that the movie did a good enough job at setting up Shawn Michaels as a potential star of the franchise moving forward.

“Yes. Shawn Michaels, myself, as well as Becky Lynch, we all starred in The Marine 6. I did 3, 4, 5, and six. I think it was just time. Honestly, it was a great closure to a great franchise. I was really proud of each movie and I think, I wasn't sure if they were going to have Shawn take over but if they needed someone to take over it was ready and built up and he's the perfect person to do that.”

These days, The Miz is more focused on his reality show, Miz and Mrs. which airs every Monday night on the USA Network after Monday Night Raw.

The Miz will go one-on-one with another multimedia megastar, Logan Paul, at SummerSlam. Fans can check out the full card here.
