The Miz Says Playing Johnny Cage In A Mortal Kombat Movie Would Be A Dream Come True

Get over here... movie role!

A new Mortal Kombat film was released on April 23, and one of the characters missing is franchise original, Johnny Cage. A section of fans have started calling for The Miz to take up the role of the movie star/martial artist in the sequel, should one be greenlit. Speaking with TMZ Sports, the former WWE Champion said he would do whatever it took to make sure that - if given the opportunity - he gave the best performance possible. Here is what he said:

"Honestly, if I have a shot at it I would definitely want to make sure that I give everything that I possibly can to make sure that not only the production company, the director are happy with the character that I get, but also that the fans because they're the ones that are so adamant about Johnny Cage being in the movie."

Miz acknowledges that this is an important character in the franchise and that it needs to be done right. He says that if he's the one to do it, then he's ready to go. Miz is also appreciative that his name being linked to the character has been met positively, as opposed to the negative reaction he usually receives.

Lastly, The Miz shared that he used to play the game when he was younger and that landing the role of Johnny Cage would be a dream come true. He said the following:

"I remember playing this game when I was a kid. Sega Genesis. I would never play Super Nintendo because it didn't have the blood. but I always played the Sega Genesis version and I remember playing as Johnny Cage, and to see this kind of all happen, it would be like a dream come true."

The first Mortal Kombat game launched in 1992 and has spawned numerous sequels and other multimedia content from movies to comic books. The 2021 film has performed admirably despite being met with mixed reviews.

The Miz has been a staple of The Marine series of films. Fightful's Jeremy Lambert and Joe Hulbert have reviewed select installments from the series on their The Distraction podcast. Check it out here.
