Montez Ford speaks about growing from a fan to a co-worker of pro wrestling legends.
Since 2016, Ford has been teaming with Angelo Dawkins as The Street Profits and the pair have become one of the top tag teams in the company with a litany of championship gold to show for it.
While speaking to The Five Count in a recent interview, Montez Ford was asked about how he got into wrestling and if he was a fan from a young age. Ford noted that he was, and it has been incredible to go from a fan to a co-worker of those he idolized.
"Oh, so I was a fan as a kid. I started watching when I was about very, very, very, very young. I think I was like eight years old. And the first person I saw was ironically the Godfather. So I saw him walking out with his entourage and everything, and I was like, 'man, what is this?' All these signs, all these green, lime, pink, red, yellow, blue signs going up. These crowds being very engaged. These guys walking around with, like, this purple vest and these green pants, and, like, the environment is so different and vibrant, and, like, that's what kind of drew me in. So, like, ever since then, I've been watching it. Got into the military, and then from the military, I came straight here. So, like, I'm glad to say, like, this is, like, technically my second, maybe second or third job ever, you know, being a professional wrestler. It's my dream job. So, like, I think it's cool. Like I said, I've been watching it since I was a kid, idolized, like, The Rock, Booker T, Shawn Michaels, all the greats, Undertaker, Stone Cold, Steve Austin, watched all those guys growing up. So it's so cool that now, technically, I'm their co-worker, if you want to get real technical with it. So it's cool to go from a fan to being a co-worker."
Ford most recently competed on Friday's edition of WWE SmackDown, where Tommaso Ciampa would break up a tag title bout between The Street Profits and the Motor City Machine Guns. You can read more about that here.
