Montez Ford: The Street Profits Felt Frustrated And Stagnant Before We Aligned With Bobby Lashley

Montez Ford opens up about how the Street Profits felt stagnant before they aligned with Bobby Lashley.

Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins, collectively known as The Street Profits, have held the Raw, SmackDown, and NXT Tag Team Championships. But they have not been champions since they lost the SmackDown Tag Team Championship in January 2021. The duo has challenged for the gold multiple times since then, but they have come up short. However, in recent months, they have aligned with Bobby Lashley, and they are starting to build momentum again.

Speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, the Street Profits discussed their heel turn and noted that they have been able to apply their internal feelings to what was happening on-screen.

"I think it’s kinda like an easy transition because we were able to apply what we’ve been feeling internally to what’s happening on camera. For the last couple of years, Street Profits have had a tremendous amount of success but in a way it’s kinda stagnant, just got idle for a little while. With that grows frustration and anger, because with the hunger to wanna do more, to advance and have more accomplishments in life, that frustration starts to grow," Ford said.

Ford explained that it was hard for the fans to get behind them when they kept coming up short. They explained that theoir on-screen shift plans into that, as they knew what they were doing was not working.

"We just firmly believed that the way that we were doing it – the old way, or the nice way – obviously was not working. This way seems to have not just a shift, but has been giving us the momentum that we need, but also the edge that was already there," Ford said.
