Nicholas Jackson: Tony Khan Wasn’t Very High On Orange Cassidy At First, We Had To Sell Him On Him

Nicholas Jackson recalls having to sell Tony Khan on Orange Cassidy in the early days of All Elite Wrestling.

Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson, The Young Bucks, are EVPs of AEW. As such, they were very involved in the early days of the company when building the original roster. The Young Bucks have been friends with Trent Beretta, Chuck Taylor, and Orange Cassidy for quite some time and while Cassidy has gone on to being a pillar performer of AEW, the Jacksons you can recall a time when they had to convince Tony Khan that Cassidy was worth recruiting to the original team.

Speaking on Social Suplex's Tunnel Talk, Nick Jackson reflected on his and Matt's relationship with the former Best Friends, and Tony Khan coming around to Cassidy's act.

"Chuck Taylor, of course, we’ve been good buddies with him since the CHIKARA days as well. It’s funny, there is a lot of the CHIKARA guys backstage to this day. Bryce Remsberg is another one, we’ve always been friends with him too," said Jackson. "A lot of those guys, we specifically hired because of our CHIKARA days with them. I remember that Tony [Khan] wasn’t very high on Orange Cassidy at first so we had to kind of sell him on him for a little bit. And I remember Tony saying: ‘You guys were right.’"

Now Orange Cassidy is a bonafide main eventer for the company, headlining the final two pay-per-view events of 2024.

Cassidy will be in action on the first episode of AEW Dynamite to be simulcast on TNT and Max, taking on another pillar performer in AEW, Hangman Page. Check out the full card for the event here.

Matthew and Nicholas also recently discussed how plans changed during their most recent AEW Tag Team Championship run. Read their comments here.
